Oakland House Lift and Attached ADU
We lifted a house and added tons of usable space.

In that vein, we want to give you a closer look at this fascinating houselift and ADU project in Oakland. We lifted a house a full ten feet and added two separate living spaces below it.

Now, it’s almost finished! Here’s the update:
The floorplan below shows the new living space that we added below the home.
The JADU (the left side of the image below) is a 486-square-foot one-bedroom, one-bath home with a living room, a kitchen, and its own laundry facilities.
The new 802-square-foot space (the right side of the image below) adds two bedrooms, a storage area, laundry facilities, a full bathroom, and a large common room to the primary residence. It's connected to the home above with an enclosed staircase.
And it's incredibly versatile. With just a few simple adjustments, it can function as an independent unit that can be rented out or used as a private home for loved ones.
Your Home Should Give You Options.
This project takes the home from its original 1299 square feet to a total of 2585 square feet. It adds living space and a source of rental income for the homeowner. Or the owner can choose to rent out both ADUs. Renting at $2,000 to $3,000 per month for each unit, the project could pay for itself in just ten years.
This is what we do.
We take existing homes and turn them into incredible assets in innovative ways. By adding an ADU (or two or three!) to an existing home, we give people a chance to become homeowners and actually benefit from the property they own. In turn, those homeowners add much-needed homes to good neighborhoods, benefitting other families and their communities.
