Cost to design a one-bedroom accessory dwelling with loft for an aging parent in Oakland

Valerie and Walt wanted to add an accessory dwelling to their property. For the immediate future, they wanted it to be a comfortable, accessible home for Valerie's mother. Thinking about the long term, they also wanted a place that could be used for rental income in the future.

A New Avenue design professional designed a one-bedroom, one-bathroom accessory dwelling unit that would be functional and pleasant for an elder resident to live in. The design included an accessible shower, a bedroom with space to move around in, and an open kitchen/studio area. In addition to the ground-floor closets, a loft overhead provided storage space.
