Cost to design a 478-square-foot accessory dwelling in Albany, CA

In 2014, Ellen approached New Avenue for a backyard accessory dwelling. Her New Avenue design professional created a backyard home for personal use, as a guest house, or, with a few modifications, as a rental home. The plans include a living area, a bathroom, a kitchen area, a patio with outdoor seating, and plenty of storage. The designer created a design that would accommodate the homeowner’s piano and preferred furniture. While the homeowner chose not to include an oven, stove, or shower at the time of design, the designer left space for those items should they be needed later.

If the homeowner chooses to add a shower and stove, she can rent the accessory dwelling out, bringing in $2,000 per month in rental income.
